Saint Maximillian Kolbe #16670 Rosary
Prisoner #16670, or Maximillian Kolbe died in the Nazi concentration camps during World War II.
With the exception of the two metal resin Our Father beads on the tail of the rosary, vaguely representing the German Iron Cross, the rest of the Rosary is made from bone (animal).
I used a pin stripe pattern with the Hail Mary Beads symbolizing the clothing the prisoners were given in the camps, and I used hand carved Skulls to represent the horror and suffering of the Concentration Camps/Death Camps.
Connecting Saint Maximillian’s image to all of this are a pair of shackles and finally a black Crucifix to end the piece.
